Jonathan Donenfeld, CPA

Jonathan Donenfeld, CPA, MSA, has more than 20 years of experience in tax, accounting, and finance. He has held positions at leading accounting and consulting firms, most recently in the Private Client Tax Group at FTI Consulting Inc., providing tax and business advisory services to a variety of private companies and high net worth individuals. Prior to this, he worked in the tax department of Rothstein Kass (now KPMG). Jonathan began his career in finance at a market making firm on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from New York University, Jonathan earned a Master's Degree in Accounting at Baruch College. His memberships include the New Jersey Society of CPA's, the New York State Society of CPA's, and the NATP (National Association of Tax Professionals).

Jonathan decided to pursue his dream of starting his own business and founded JLD Tax to help other small businesses resolve their outstanding tax issues. Since starting his own business in 2015, he has helped save his clients over $10,000,000 dollars in back taxes. When he is not working, he is spending time with his wife and two children.

 

Anil Melwani, CPA

Anil Melwani is the most recent partner to join the team at JLD Tax & Accounting. Anil founded 212 Tax & Accounting Services in 2008, and has been helping both businesses & individuals with their accounting, tax preparation, and tax planning since then. Anil’s main focus has been on the hospitality, entertainment, and food & beverage industries, along with clients who face various types of international tax issues and many people who work with the United Nations and foreign governments. He also has extensive experience helping taxpayers with tax problems, including late returns, missed filings, and negotiating back taxes and penalties.

Prior to founding 212 Tax Services, Anil served as Vice President of Armel Enterprises, an importer & distributor of home furnishings. His duties included budgeting, forecasting, and inventory control, meeting with major retailers, and traveling to Asia to develop and source new products. Anil’s career in accounting started with Deloitte in the summer of 2000. He eventually became an integral part of the audit engagement team for several clients including Forever 21, India Abroad/Rediff.com, LensCrafters, Merrill Lynch, and the Rockefeller Family Investment Group. Anil’s knowledge of the inner workings of businesses and their tax obligations, coupled with his experience as a professional auditor, has enabled him to be a very highly regarded accountant and business advisor.

Anil grew up in Great Neck, Long Island, and has lived in Manhattan since 2001, after graduating from Babson College with a Concentration in Accounting. He is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs and National Association of Tax Professionals, and has been a New York State CPA since 2005.

 

Carmela Walrond

Carmela Walrond is an experienced Tax Attorney and Tax Accountant, who has helped her clients save millions of dollars in back taxes through a variety of methods, including the IRS Offer In Compromise program, penalty abatement, and Audit representation. Carmela is also licensed to practice in federal and state Tax Court as well as bankruptcy court (Chapter 7). She has handled cases for individuals and small businesses throughout New York and New Jersey.

Prior to joining JLD Tax Resolution Group, Carmela was the managing partner at Walrond Tax Resolution PLLC and before that held positions in the tax department of Deloitte, KPMG and CIT Group.

Carmela’s interest in tax began when she was a junior in college and volunteered for the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program in Newark, NJ, which helped prepare tax returns for low-income taxpayers.
